Trade2Save.com Supports Green Living through Cell Phone Fundraising Programs and Carbon Credits

Offering new charity fundraising kits and one-of-a-kind carbon credits, Trade2Save.com gives online consumers a way to recycle electronics and save money

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2011

When the latest Droid phone or Apple iPhone is released, hoards of consumers buy the newest model without giving much thought to the old one that sits unused in the back of their closet. Trade2Save.com aims to help consumers reduce their carbon footprint through electronic trade-ins and appealing fundraiser options.

“Charities and non-profit organizations can now download a fundraising kit from our website that will let them collect cell phones from donators to earn money,” said Chris Whittome, founder and CEO of Trade2Save.com. “Our new cell phone fundraising kits are available for all non-profits, such as schools, churches, charities and even individuals who want to raise money on their own for the charity of their choice.”

In addition to its charity efforts, the online trade-in site offers carbon credits to customers whenever they recycle old cell phones, cameras, laptops and other gadgets that they no longer use. Customers receive cash for their trade-ins, and the additional carbon credits are a revolutionary way for them to cash in on their environmental savings.

“Our carbon credits are a new and different way for us to help increase customers’ awareness of the impact their purchases have on the environment and the amount of carbon dioxide generated from the growing use and destruction of consumer electronics, like cell phones,” said Whittome.

The carbon credits are determined by the energy needed to produce, use and recycle the electronic item as well as the re-usability and shelf life of the particular product. When customers recycle digital cameras or laptops, they accumulate carbon credits that they can trade in for an additional monetary sum.

“There was a recent study performed by the EPA that showed only 17 percent of electronics were recycled in 2009, while the rest went to the landfill,” said Whittome. “Through our cell phone fundraisers and carbon credits, we provide a tangible incentive to trading in items as soon as a gadget is upgraded.”

About Trade2Save.com

Trade2Save.com is a buyer of used electronics where customers can get paid for old and used gadgets, electronics and media. Cell phones, PDA's, MP3 players, GPS units, laptops, gaming consoles, video games and DVDs—if it works, it can be bought and reused—and the customer gets paid to be responsible. Trade2Save.com was created to champion the awareness of negative environmental impacts resulting from the overproduction of electronic instruments. By increasing trust in pre-owned electronics and the marketplace, the company hopes that more people will embrace pre-owned electronics, and by doing so, save money and the environment.
